Henderson County Parks & Rec draws a pretty picture

Looks nice, doesn't it? Let's take a closer look (click the pictures to make them bigger):

Now you can clearly see how much of the Parks & Rec grayed-out area is residential. I've also numbered the soccer fields and underlined in black the parking areas and the possible new entrances into the complex, entrances that will pour scads of traffic directly onto this road:

Is it such a pretty picture now?

  1. 9 fields.

    20 kids per team.

2 teams per game, 40 kids per field.

40 kids per field, 9 fields, 360 kids.

    360 kids, 1.5 parents/other per kid...

    ...540 parents/other + 360 kids = 900 people.

2 people per car, 450 cars.

And that's just for the 8am game. Layer on the 10am game, the 12 noon game, and the 2pm game, and the 4pm game, and the 6pm game...

...and once they get lights the 8 pm game, and maybe the 10pm game?

The parking lots in those rendering are way too small, probably have to triple them. More paved surface = more runoff during rain = more problems with fields and $$'s to maintain, not to mention more flooding problems downstream.

This, is not, appropriate, for Flat Rock.
